Two labels for the middle grade
The grade cards on the quality page are AA, A and B. Species pages list the same faces as AA, AB and B. AB is the catalog name for the middle selection. The A-grade card is the written standard for that middle face.
AA Grade
Minimal small live knots. No visible color variation. Uniform grain pattern. Typical use: Premium furniture · Cabinet doors · Visible panels.
A Grade
Minor natural knots allowed. Slight color variation acceptable. Clean overall appearance. Typical use: Case furniture · Cabinet bodies · Side panels.
B Grade
Knots and color variation allowed. Full natural wood character. Structurally sound. Typical use: Back panels · Non-visible surfaces · Inner parts.
Tolerances
Official standard. Thickness ±0.05mm; width ±3mm; length ±5mm; warpage ≤ 2mm/m.
What to write on the inquiry
Name the species, the grade label you are using, the cut and the thickness. A quote cannot match “good grade” to a published row.
