Our hardwood logs come directly from established North American sawmills: black walnut, white and red oak, cherry and hard maple.
At the Dongguan mill, incoming logs are checked against their species and origin paperwork before processing.
From there the species stays traceable. Each finished bundle is tagged with species, cut, grade and size, so the veneer you receive matches the specification you ordered.
Inside the mill
From log to ready stock
Eight steps, one roof. Every sheet in the catalog is sawn, conditioned, sliced, dried, clipped and graded in the same Dongguan mill.
01Log intake
Logs come in from North American sawmills. Species and origin paperwork are checked at the yard before a log is accepted for slicing.
02Flitch sawing
The bandsaw opens each log into flitches. How the log is opened decides whether the leaves show crown figure or straight grain.
03Steam conditioning
Flitches are softened in steam vats so the knife takes a clean, even leaf without tearing the fibre.
04Slicing
In-house slicing lines cut leaves in sequence at the ordered thickness. Leaves leave the knife in the same order they sat in the flitch.
05Drying
A roller dryer brings the leaves down to a flat, stable sheet before they are graded or clipped.
06Clipping
Guillotine clippers square the edges and take out splits and defects. Cut-to-size orders are trimmed here.
07Grading and bundling
Sheets are graded against the published AA, A and B cards, counted, and bundled in flitch order with a tag for species, cut, grade and size.
08Warehouse stock
Tagged bundles go to the warehouse as ready stock. Export orders are packed on ISPM 15 compliant packaging for loading.
